Chelsea fans have expressed their delight following the news that Branislav Ivanovic will miss the next three weeks through injury.
The full-back was forced off with a hamstring strain in the 65th-minute of Serbia’s Euro 2016 qualifying win over Albania last Thursday.
And Chelsea expect the defender to sit out matches in the next three weeks – and that could see him miss as many as six games, including matches with Liverpool and a double-header against Dynamo Kiev.
But according to talkingbaws.com, supporters of the club don’t appear to be too disappointed with the news.
And judging by the reaction on Twitter, they are delighted that the injury will force manager Jose Mourinho not to start Ivanovic in the coming weeks.
Reacting to the news, Tumi Wadi [email protected], believes Ivanovic’s absence will see Chelsea keep successive clean sheets.
“Ivanovic out for three weeks. Watch as we keep successive clean sheets.”
Karma @CtrlAltCFC, posited that the injury to Ivanovic will see Chelsea pick up nine points.
“Ivanovic to miss three weeks. That’s nine points in my book.”
On his part, Alistair Williams @LaughatAL, described the news as a welcome development.
“Chelsea received a welcome injury boost ahead of the weekend with news that Ivanovic has been ruled out for up to four weeks.”
While Varun @_being_varun, wished never to see the defender again.
“Good news. Hope we see Ivanovic never again.”
