Chelsea Made To Wait For Target

Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj, but may have to wait until the end of the season.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri knows the player well having coached him at both Empoli and Napoli and another reunion could be on the cards at Stamford Bridge.

The future of the Albania international with the Serie A side remains in doubt as the two parties are struggling to agree on a new deal, and reports have claimed the Italians could cash in.

However they will not be willing to do so halfway through the season and are reported to have told Chelsea they will have to wait until the end of the current campaign.

Red Bull Salzburg right-back Stefan Lainer has been lined up as a potential replacement for Hysaj, but that deal will also only happen in the summer. Hence Napoli’s refusal to do a deal for Hysaj at this time.

Hysaj himself is said to be keen on a move to west London to link up with Sarri again, and a deal looks sure to happen in the future.
