Chelsea Old Boys Matic And Mata Reunite in Manchester United Training Ground

 

Manchester United’s latest buy, Nemanja Matic got reunited with his old Chelsea teammate Juan Mata on his first day of training with his new teammates. 

 

Both players had time to talk and catch up on old times as they were put through their paces by the coaches as they prepare for Wednesday’s game against Italian side Sampdoria before taking on Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup next Tuesday in Skopje, Macedonia.

 

Matic, who also celebrated his birthday on Tuesday has been thrown into the thick of things and could be in line for a debut against the Italians in Dublin even though he’s a bit short on match fitness. 

 

Matic and Mata formed spent time together at Chelsea when the Serbian re-joined the Blues in 2013-14 following time at Benfica but the Spaniard was soon on his way to Manchester United the following January.
  

 

Matic became United's third summer signing on Monday when Chelsea confirmed his departure to Old Trafford after the Serbia international has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at United with the Red Devils having the option of extending his deal by a further year. 

 

'I am delighted to have joined Manchester United,' Matic told the club's website. 'To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.’
 

 

Mourinho side's go into the match high in confidence after a comfortable 3-0 win over Norwegian side Valerenga on Sunday.

 

Marouane Fellaini, who Mourinho insists will not be leaving the club this summer, Lukaku and academy graduate Scott McTominay netted as United recorded their fifth win of pre-season. 

 

United defeated LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City and Real Madrid – via a penalty shootout – during their tour of America before returning to Europe for their final two games ahead of the new campaign.
