Chelsea chief executive reveals desire to keep Jose Mourinho for the next decade
CHELSEA chief executive Ron Gourlay has revealed that both he and the club want Jose Mourinho to remain manager for the next decade.
In an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard, Gourlay was effusive in his praise for the enigmatic Portuguese boss.
And highlighted Mourinho’s vast knowledge of the club and abilities in dealing with the British media as exceptional strengths.
“I hope he will stay 10 years. Having the security of Jose is great for me – he knows the club, knows me.
“Jose can deal with the media in a different way from some of the other managers we’ve had.
“He takes the pressure not only away from the players, but also from the club. He allows us to manage and me in particular to drive the club forward.”
Chelsea face German outfit Schalke at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, and will hope their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season can extend to UEFA’s premier competition.
