Nigerian striker Chisom Chikatara has debunked rumours that he is set to dump Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club for a move elsewhere, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Chikatara was linked with a move to an unnamed Turkish club during the January transfer window and is reportedly to be keen on leaving the former African champions in the summer.
But the former Abia Warriors player insisted that he is happy at the Casablanca-based Wydad.
”To be honest with you, I don’t know where the story came from. I never told anyone I wanted to leave Wydad and it’s unfortunate some people are peddling rumours around about my future,” Chikatara disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It’s true that a Turkish club was interested in my services in January but I never considered leaving the club.
“Wydad have done a lot for me since I arrived here and it’s important for me to pay them back positively for their good deeds.
“I’m happy here and I hope to represent the club for a long time.”
Chikatara caught the eye after impressing for Nigeria’s home-based team at the 2016 African Nation Championship in Rwanda where he bagged four goals.
