Chisom Chikatara is elated to have finally opened his goals account for Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca and also hopes he can help the club win a second CAF Champions League title, reports Completesportsnigeriam.com.
The 21-year-old scored on his first start for Wydad in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Zambian side, Zesco United.
The Rouges et Blancs last ruled the continent in 1992 and are looking to win a second title following their impressive showing in the group stages of the competition.
John Toshack's men will face Egyptian champions Zamalek in the semi-final next month and the former Abia Warriors striker is not only looking forward to making a big impact at the club but helping them claim the African trophy.
"It's always a great honour for every player to score his first goal for a new club and I am really excited to have done that in the game against Zesco United," Chikatara who came into limelight after his heroics for Nigeria at the 2016 African Nations Championship where he scored four goals told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We have some quality strikers here at the club which makes competition for places a bit challenging.
"So, it's always important to put in your best when you have the chance to play and I am happy with my overall performance in the game.
"Our target is to win the trophy, hopefully I will get enough game time and contribute more in helping the club achieve that objective."
