Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was in action for Tianjin TEDA who suffered a 1-0 defeat in a Chinese Super League clash to Henan Jianye on Sunday at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The defeat was Tianjin TEDA’s first of the season after playing a 1-1 draw at home to Hebei Fortune last week.
Orlando Sa’s seventh minute goal proved to be the match winner for Henan in the encounter.
The game was Mikel’s 15th game for Tianjin TEDA since he joined the club last year. He has also scored a goal and provided one assist.
The 30 year old former Chelsea star will lead Nigeria’s Super Eagles in next week’s international friendlies against Poland and Serbia on 23 March and 27 of March in Warsaw and London respectively.
