Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was in action for Tianjin Teda but could not prevent them from losing 2-1 at home to Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Friday.
It was Tianjin Teda’s first home defeat in the league this season after winning three and drawing one in their last four home games.
Ghana’s Frank Acheampong gave Tianjin Teda the lead from the penalty spot in the 59th minute.
Hao Junmin drew Shandong Luneng level in the 79th minute.
And in the 93rs minute, Wu Xinghan scored the winner to give his side the win.
The defeat was Tianjin Teda’s fourth after 11 league games so far this season and they are now eighth on 15 points in the league table.
Their next game is away to injured Obafemi Martins’ Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday July 7.
