Chinedu Obasi's elder brother has shed more light on why the former Schalke 04 player's contract talk with Sunderland fell through.
Obasi, whose career has been blighted by injury, was in talks with the Black Cats on a move to the Premier League club.
But the move never materialised as the club decided against signing the forward.
Speaking with completesportsnigeria.com, Henry stated that Sunderland's desire for a player who would hit the ground running, following their poor form in the league, may not be unconnected with why the deal was called off.
"The deal ended before it even started. Some agents were compelling the manager (Sam Alladyce) to consider him (Chinedu), and he was like 'okay his C.V. is good' but he needed someone who will be very effective immediately," Henry told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"And as we all know, nobody comes out of a long injury and is expected to give 100 per cent.
"The club have their issues, and it is evident that they are under pressure, and they needed a player who was going to deliver from the word go, and I don't think Chinedu is that player, not after just coming back from injury."
Sunderland are 19th in the league with just six points from 11 games.
