Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has tasked Nigeria'a representatives in next year's CAF club competitions to ensure they recruit the best players and prepare adequately for the competitions.
Speaking to Completesportsnigeria.com on the backdrop of TP Mazembe's defeat against Sanfreece Hiroshima on Sunday afternoon in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan, the Rangers of Enugu legend says it is imperative that Nigeria's flagbearers are ready for the challenges ahead in 2016.
"Representing Africa is not enough. We should have representatives who can win too, or at least reach the final, " Chukwu tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
"TP Mazembe is a big African club, I didn't watch the match, so I can't comment about their performance, but a 3-0 defeat means that their opponents were dominant.
"As Enyimba and Warri Wolves aim to win the competition next year, I will implore them to recruit very well. The state governments must also support them in any way possible."
Chukwu, who was in charge of the Super Eagles at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations, insists it is time another Nigerian triumph at the CAF club competition is recorded.
"Its been long Enyimba won the CAF Champions League, we need another winner. Same attitude and preparations must also be the case with the Confederation Cup representatives," 'Chairman' Chukwu reiterates.
