Nigeria's foremost sports daily Complete Sports began their 2016 Lagos SWAN Cup campaign on a bright note, defeating Inspiration FM 2-1 at the Leagcy pitch of the National Stadium on Monday.
Despite missing five key players (Mumini Alao, Dare Esan, Bamidele Boluwaji, Nurudeen Obalola and Ladi Loko) for the encounter due to club pre-season commitments, Joseph Ambrose scored a brace to ensure the 'Okota Bombers' began their quest to reclaim their 2012 title on a winning note.
Ambrose fired in a stunner off a Johnny Edward assist in the seventh minute before capitalizing on a defensive error to seal the game for Complete Sports.
Meanwhile, the Okota Bombers got a major boost ahead of Tuesday's matches with the arrival of Liverpool forward Alao in camp on Monday night.
The striker who scored 94 goals in 37 games for the Reds last season as they finished sixth, flew into Lagos aboard a private jet from Anfield.
Alao has also promised to reward the team financially if they win the competition. Also in camp for Tuesday's game is Obalola who has been passed fit by the medical team.
The Johnny Edward-led side will take on Galaxy TV before tackling Unilag FM in their final group fixture on Wednesday.
