Mexico claimed their first win of the on going 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, defeating New Zealand 2-1 in their second Group A match on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Second half goals from Raul Jimenez and Oribe Peralta secured a comfortable win over The Kiwis after Chris Wood shot the Oceania champions into the lead at the Fisht Olympic Stadium.
The defeat sends New Zealand out of the tournament have lost their two consecutive games so far. They loss to hosts Russia last Saturday.
Leeds striker, Chris Wood who was played through on goal struck a powerful shot that beat Alfredo Talavera in goal for Mexico. The strike was the first and only Kiwi's goal at Russia 2017 so far.

Peralta sealed the win in the 72nd minute with a close-range finish to put Mexico in front for the first time in the game.
The match entered an extremely tensed final stage with Mexico creating the best chances, but they failed to make it count just as New Zealand were desperate to draw level.
Mexico face Russia in their final group game, while New Zealand will confront Portugal.
