Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has said that he would rather focus on his team’s clash against Swansea than worry about the outcome of the Manchester derby.
Chelsea are on the same nine points as Manchester City and Manchester United going into the weekend’s Premier League games.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s away game to Swansea, the former Juventus coach admitted that the Manchester derby will be huge, but he would rather concentrate on his side’s game.
“We know that is a great match but we must only be focused on our game which will be tough,” he said.
On the likely winners of the EPL title this season, Conte said there are no clear favourites.
He said: “I don’t like to talk about favourites for the title. Last season showed that favourites don’t always win.”
Conte praised the additions of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso into his squad.
But the former Italy international pointed out that Luiz can still improve as a defender.
“The signings of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso have improved the squad. But the two players must work to fit in with the way the team plays and show they deserve to play.”
“I like defenders who like to play football. David Luiz can improve defensively but I’m pleased to have him.
“Every player until the end of their career can improve. At 29 David Luiz is at a fantastic age to become one of the best.”
