Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has praised his players, including new £70m signing Alvaro Morata, for their fighting spirit in their 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich in Tuesday's International Champions Cup clash in Singapore.
Bayern were dominant from the start of the game and raced to a 3-0 lead through Rafinha (sixth minute) and Thomas Muller (12th, 27th minutes) before Marcos Alonso pulled a goal back while Michy Batshuayi reduced the deficit with five minutes left.
Despite the loss hailed their effort to try and salvage something from the game.
"Our start wasn't good but the players showed me a great will to try to change the result," Conte said in his post-match press conference.
The former Juventus boss believes Morata, who came on in the second half and assisted Batshuayi's goal, had an impressive debut but will need time to gel with his new teammates.
"We must give him the right time to adapt to our way of football but he should be pleased with his performance," Conte added.
Chelsea's next International Champions Cup game is against Inter Milan also in Singapore on Saturday.
