Conte Wary Of ‘Strong’ Everton, Prefers Costa To Lukaku

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is mindful of the opposition that Everton present in Sunday's Premier League clash and is grateful for the fact that he has a fit team for the weekend game at Goodison Park, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Speaking to the media Friday afternoon at his pre match press conference, Conte confirmed that all his players are fit and available for the game at Everton.

"I don't know, but Everton are a really good team, a strong team, with great players in their squad and a physical team," said Conte.

"They have a good coach, a good manager. They play organised football. It will be a very tough game for us, for sure, but at the end of the season, every game becomes tough for many different reasons.

"For us, it's very important to look at ourselves, prepare very well and arrive to play this game with great physical condition, good organisation, to know our tasks defensively and offensively.

"When we started this season, our first target was to play in the Champions League next season.

"It's an important target for the club, for the fans, for the players. But, for sure now, we stay in a position to try also to win the league.

"Obviously, with six teams between Chelsea, Tottenham, City, Arsenal, United, Liverpool, two strong teams won't play next season in the Champions League.

"It's 11 games that we are not able to keep a clean sheet and, for this reason, it's important to improve, to work on the situations we're conceding the goals. I'm not concerned about this, but at the same time, we are working on it."

Asked if he would rather have Diego Costa or Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Conte replied: "As I've said before, for me my players are the best in the world.

"I wouldn't change my players with any other players. I think that Lukaku for sure is a really good player, he's scoring a lot of goals this season.

"You have to pay him great attention but it's always the same, we study the opponent and we try to find the best solution to stop them, about single players and about the team.

"Yes we must pay great attention to Lukaku, but also Everton's other players. They have a lot of good players with good technique."

Chelsea top the league table by four points with five matches to play, but Conte has rejected suggestions the Blues face an easier run-in than title rivals Tottenham.

"I think that in this part of the season each game is very tough for many different reasons. You have a lot of pressure, you know you have to win," Conte added.

"For sure when you have to play with this target, it's not simple, it's not easy. But not only for us, also for Tottenham.

"But we are ready, and we have worked hard to arrive here to fight for the title. And for this reason we want to reach this target with all our strength.

"We have to do our job with the right pressure but at the same time to enjoy it. I think it's not an advantage for us to play before Tottenham this weekend.

"But at the end of the season when you have two teams in contention for the title, I think you must have the two fixtures at the same hour, on the same day – not to give the advantage to one team or the other."
