Nigeria star Victor Moses was in action for Chelsea who were held to a 2-2 Premier League draw away at Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was left out of the Chelsea matchday squad
Diego Costa got Chelsea’s two goals while Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leroy Fer were on target for Swansea.
Moses who started from the bench, replaced Willian while Mikel Obi was not included in the squad.
Chelsea moved up to second place, two points off leaders Manchester City, while Swansea occupy the 13th position in the league table.
Willian had the game’s first chance but his effort was kept out at the near post by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
Willian went close again a few minutes later, hitting a diagonal strike was held by Fabianski.
Chelsea’s early pressure finally paid off in the 18th minute through Costa who sidefooted into the corner from the edge after being teed up by Oscar.
Eden Hazard had the chance to double Chelsea’s lead following a mazy run but he shot straight at Fabianski.
Oscar was the next Chelsea player to go close off a Hazard assist only to see his strike deflected wide.
Gylfi Sigurdsson had Swansea’s first real chance, sending a thumping drive which flew wide.
Swansea made the game’s first change in the 41st minute with Neil Taylor going of for Modou Barrow.
In the 44th minute Chelsea almost doubled their lead but John Terry and Costa both played the ball across the face of goal.
On the restart, Hazard went close to making it two goals for Chelsea, sliding in to meet Willian’s cross but missing by the whiskers.
Sigurdsson made it 1-1 in the 60th minute from the penalty spot against the run of play after he was fouled by Courtois.
Fer put Swansea 2-1 ahead on 62 minutes following a mistake from Cahill.
Oscar almost drew Chelsea leveled but his curler was well saved by Fabianski.
Chelsea went in search for the equaliser with Cesar Azpilicuerta sending in a cross which was punched away by Fabianski.
Chelsea made two quick change in the 77th minute with Moses and Cesc Fabregas replacing Nemanja Matic and Willian.
Oscar had a chance for Chelsea from the edge but his shot but his shot lacked power.
Costa equalised for Chelsea in the 81st minute with a overhead kick after Ivanovic’s initial shot was not properly cleared.
Costa almost grabbed his hat-trick but his shot was saved by Fabianski.
Chelsea made their final change on 89 minutes with Michy Batshuayi replacing Oscar.
Moses went close for Chelsea late on but blazed over the bar after Fabregas’ shot was blocked.
