Croatia Striker Kramaric: We Must Win First World Cup Game Vs Super Eagles

By David Meshioye:

Croatia striker Andrej Kramaric says picking three points against the Super Eagles is key to his country’s chances of making progress in Group D of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

In a chat with sportnet.rtl.hr, the Hoffenheim striker admitted that playing against Nigeria will not be a stroll in a park, adding that he expects a tough and cagey game against the former African champions.

“The first match against Nigeria is  the focus of attention, and three points from that match would mean a lot,” former Leicester City striker Kramaric said.

“We are now putting finishing touches to our first game against Nigeria, which is a very good team and it will certainly be a very difficult and interesting game. The first game is the most important thing, because with it we will have the chance of qualifying from the group.

“More and more, we all had a great season behind us, we are all eager, motivated and know what we want. The first goal is to qualify from the group, and after that everything is possible,.

“We all know that best teams do not always win, that is why we need a little luck. Everything about our team was great before qualification, and we hope that it will remain so when the World Cup begins.”

Argentina and Iceland are the other teams in the group.

He must have watched d Nig Vs Congo match to call it a stroll in the park. Wouldn’t blame him though, after watching that game myself, I kinda lost some hope on d eagles.

“A still in the park” is like walkover. No doubt, he definitely he watched the vs Congo DR match. If this guy is wise, I will advice him to watch the vs England match on Saturday and the other subsequent 2 matches. I also see that Croatia don’t speak English but Croat. In his next statement he said the match with Nigeria will be “tough and cagey.” Whatever is in this guy’s mind, he is like all Croatians that feel they are so fortunate to be paired in group D having Nigeria and Iceland. He forgot that Croatia pin point man is Luka Modric and his midfielders but their defence is nothing to write about. Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo and Simy will tear them apart. After all they were runners up in their qualifying stages with Iceland leading. Croatia qualify via playoff with Greece. Nigeria with allow their play do the talking. Not now.

prior to USA 94, the Bulgarians said that they’ll get three points from Nigeria. The reverse was the case because Nigeria scored 3 unreplied goals against Bulgaria. I see the same thing against Croatia.

The S/E and fans should avoid talk like this. Bear in mind the S/E has not even reached the quarter finals despite several attempts. Yet sometimes people talk like they have already won the World Cup. Let the football do the talking. Beside that, there must be some serious change in tactics. I hope the boys stop ball watching and then only start playing when the rivals arrive at their 18 yard box. They also must do better with set piece plays and defending, including corners. Talking alone will achieve very little. Good luck!

  • I’m also sorry for you (Croatia) will follow iceland back home.
