Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken with the players and send a good luck message to the Super Eagles ahead of their Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Group D game against Croatia on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
“President @MBuhari spoke with the @NGSuperEagles this evening, ahead of their opening World Cup match against Croatia; and assured them of the full support of the nation. #SoarSuperEagles #Russia2018WorldCup,” the Presidency’s official account tweeted on Saturday evening.
President Buhari then replied from his personal account with a good luck message.
“180 million Nigerians have looked forward to today with great excitement. On behalf of all, I wish the Super Eagles the best of luck, as they display the gallant Nigerian spirit that sets us apart,” he tweeted.
The last time both Nigeria and Croatia won their opening games at the FIFA World Cup was at the 1998 edition in France.
