Super Eagles pacy winger, Ahmed Musa will be in CSKA Moscow’s starting line-up today as they go on the road trip to the 20,048 Stadion Arsenal to confront struggling Arsenal Tulip. Musa was in action last weekend playing the entire duration of the game in the 4-0 thumping of Mordovia Saransk but could not find the target despite the high scoreline.
CSKA are currently 2nd on the Russian Premier League table with 40 points behind leaders Zenith with 45 points and need a win to reduce the gap. And with Zenith having to deal with a more difficult fixture that will see them go on the road against 3rd placed Dinamo Moscow tomorrow, CSKA will fancy their chances of muscling 14th placed Arsenal Tulip to close the gap on their rivals. And with just 14 points after 19 rounds of matches, Tulip are just on the edge of the drop zone in the 16-team league table.
Musa is the arrowhead of CSKA’s attack and currently has 9 goals to his credit making him the joint second highest goalscorer in the Russian elite division behind Zenit’s Jose-Salomon Rondon with 10 goals. The Nigerian forward however, has the chance to jump to the lead of the top scorer’s chart if he can add to his tally by scoring against a hapless Arsenal Tulip defense that has conceded 26 goals in the ongoing campaign.
But CSKA cannot afford to get complacent against Arsenal Tulip and must be wary of their host who only last weekend inflicted a shock 0-1 away victory over 5th placed Lokomotiv Moscow.
