Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, scored his 15th goal of the season for Changchun Yatai who fell to a 5-2 defeat to their hosts, Guangzhou R&F in a Chinese Super League clash at the Yuexiushan Stadium, Guangzhou on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ighalo opened scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute, but Guangzhou rallied back to record an emphatic win.
He scored a brace in his club’s 3-1win against Beijing Renhe in midweek.
Ighalo has now scored eight goals in his last eight league appearances for Changchun Yatai.
The former Watford striker has now matched the 15 goals he scored in 27 league outings for Changchun Yatai last season.
In another Chinese Super League game played on Saturday, Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi made a return to Tiajin Teda’s line-up in their 1-1 home draw with Jiangsu Suning.
Mikel had missed Tiajin Teda’ previous five league games due to injury.
He played the entire duration of the game proving his fitness after last featuring for the club against Chongqing Dangdai on July 21.
Eder Martins gave Jiangsu Suning FC the lead against the run of play in the 19th minute of the game but Hao Guo drew Tianjin TEDA in the 37th minute to hand them a crucial point.
Tinajin TEDA are now sixth in the Chinese Super League with 26 points from 19 games.
Mikel and his teammates will host Beijing Guoan FC next Saturday. He has made 13 appearances so far this term scoring just one goal.
The 31 year old is expected to be named in Nigeria’s squad to face Seychelles in next month’s African Cup Of Nations.
