Czech Republic Keeper Vaclik: How We Outsmarted Super Eagles

By Adeboye Amosu:

Czech Republic goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik described Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly win against the Super Eagles of Nigeria as a valuable one, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Karel Jarolim’s men were thrashed 4-0 by Australia in  another friendly fixture last Friday but  bounced back with an impressive showing against the World Cup-bound West Africans.

“It was a valuable victory for us. We controlled the game    and created a number of chances too,” Vaclik was told Tyden.cz.

“They (Nigeria) played better in the second half but we stood up to them. It was a different performance from us than against Australia.”

Czech Republic head coach, Karel Jarolim, made a number of changes to the team that lost to the Australians and also tinkered with the formation, adopting a 3-5-2 as against the 4-3-3 they lined up with against Australia.

And the 29-year-old FC Basel shot stopper stated that the players acquainted themselves well in the game.

“We were more compact when under pressure. We also used it against Germany in the qualifier and it was our best performance,” he said.

“It’s good that we have two options among which we can switch.”

I no blame u, thanks Rohr and pinnick and other corrupt NFA officials, for using sentiments and bribery in their selections.Ambrise Efe is way better than Shehu, Kayode, imoh are way better than Iheanacho and Simy.Sanusi far far better than Joel or Onazi, Nwakalis are far better than Onazi and Joel. Yeye Rohr I’m sure Kalu would have been a better replacement for Simon.

I thank God for not allowing a Nation like Nigeria  to be coached by @sunnyb. If not, with the players he is mentioning e.g sanusi, Efe Ambrose, imoh kayode etc then we might have not qualified for the World Cup.

SURELY GOD BLESS NIGERIA. GOD BLESS EAGLES. I BELIEVE IN GOD. AND I KNOW, THERE IS LIGHT AT THE TUNNEL OF THIS WORLD CUP. SUPER EAGLES WILL SHOCK AND PUT SMILE ON OUR FACES. NIGERIA TEAM IS THE MOST CRITICIZED TEAM ALL OVER THE WORLD. EVEN PERSECUTED BY HER OWN. THEY WERE CONDEMNED TO FAIL AT THE BIG STAGE. THEY WERE WRITTEN OFF, WISE MEN OF SUPERSPORT MADE MOCKERY OF OUR DARLING EAGLES. I BELIEVE IN GOD, THE GROUP STAGE IS EAGLES RED SEA, ROUND OF 16 IS RIVER JORDAN, QUARTER FINAL IS THE WALL OF JERICHO. BEFORE JULY THE LAND OF CANNA WILL FLOW WITH MILK AND HONEY, BY THE POWER THAT LIVES IN JESUS NAME…SUPER EAGLES ARE THE ISRAELITE OF OLD. I BELIEVE IN GOD. GOD BLESS SUPER EAGLES, GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

  • I wonder why the coach will not try playing with simy and alongside ighalo, with two strikers upfront the team will be stronger in the final third. Play Moses in his natural position that he plays for his clubs side. Mikel AMD Ndidi CM Ogu DM, Iwobi LW. The oyibo wall defence should be drilled to work on their area of strength and weakness.
The coach should start with three man defense the team is always at it best when this formation is adopted we should not wait on till second half or when we are trailing before changes are made. Against strong European teams, chances of creating goal scoring opportunities are very slim, if you fail to take those opportunities as they come you will be made to lick your wounds at the final whistle .

Enough of this trial please. Look at your starting eleven the weak link and make immediate changes early enough. If you score early goals take out one striker and flood your midfield to protect your lead. Take out Iwobi and bring in a defender. It’s easy to say or write but the point is G.R has just 90mins in a match to figure this out so go for the jugular at the start of a match. Give them respect but show what you are made of. I believe in this team to make history not by winning the tournament but surpassing African team WC record.

I don’t know why some Nigerians are so naive and talk like children. This is the same team that qualified from the group stage without loosing a game and beat strong African teams like Cameroon and Algeria with wide margins. This is the same team who played Argentina in a serious test game and won but some Nigerians like @sunnyb who have short memories (sorry to say) are castigating this team just because they are experimenting and working for a change just to play better. Now let me state somethings to clear the mind of some Nigerians who their pessimistic and impatient view has beclouded their right sense of thinking (sorry to sound callous). Anyone who plays soccer knows first of all that when he plays with a particular set of players for a period of time, they become used to themselves and know their weakness and strength which makes it easier for a coach to work with, and that is the reason (I stand to be corrected) the coach had refused to opt for major changes in the team but added a few new faces to the team, and these are people who he knows can fit into his style of play. Secondly, someone who knows soccer, knows that every single coach has his own style, pattern and formation of play and these makes up his tactics and therefore he can’t work with just any player, every player under him has to be able to play to his tactics take for e.g Guardiola, any formation he uses he plays what is called departmental soccer where you will have 3, 4 players gather where ball is and a lone player far away, as these players pass the ball along themselves, they now quickly throw a long pass to the lone man far off to create space and take the opponent unaware. It is also because of the coaches tactics that made Low not to pick Sane for the World Cup and the whole world reacted. Someone who knows soccer should know that the opponent in the World Cup will first of all look at the way you played during your qualifiers and will use that as a basics for tackling your team, so the team had to update and upgrade their play so as not to be taken unawares in the tournament and this is what kills England, they play the same tactics they used in qualifiers in the main competition and it makes it easy for their opponents to play them (look at their history of play, they win most of their friendlies and do poorly in the main competition). To this fact the Nigerian senior team coach, Rohr, is trying to update the play of the super eagles by not only trying some new formations but also trying some players out of position and also getting the players to get used to such formations themselves in case they face it in Tournament. Let’s all try to give this team all the support they need and leave the job of the coach to the coach. We can start criticizing the team when they don’t perform well in the World Cup. The coach is not God he can’t bring out a faultless team or tactics for the team. Every tactics created and crafted by a human will always have a counter measure only the smartest can win.
    God Bless Nigeria
    God Bless the Super Eagles

I love you sir. You really dealt with me. My hope has resurrected.

  • Skiper mikel obi,i luv u very much and i’ll always count on you,pls make us proud and God’ll bless u and the team

  • Skipo don’t allow anybody to make u angry, pls step up and b serious in every game we are going 2 play.Cos am counting on u big bro God bless u and the team

  • I was really shocked to find out that we did not lose more than one goal. My utmost prayer was for Nigeria SE to lose the match by at least 4 goals. My reason is because this team is so good and complete in “all most” complete in all the departments and can shock any team at the WC but dre greatest undoing would be COMPLACENCY. So losing by a wide margin would have thought them a lesson and don’t forget that SE perform only when written off take for example Atlanta 96 (we lost our sent forth to Togo by 3 -1)and we shocked the world, same for 2013 afcon, what about Rio 2016 and most recently WC qualifiers with Algeria and Cameroon in our group.

Secondly, losing by a wide margin would give our opponents the feeling that we are not as strong as they thought which they will do at their own peril.

However, there is one bit of history that worries me which no body as deliberately consider. Each time Nigeria is in groupD we tend to perform woefully at friendlies leading to the WC but on getting to the WC proper, we tend to shock the heavy weights in our group, top the group and bow out in the second round. I sincerely hope we would not experience same at this WC like it happened in 94&98. So just remember that should we top group this time around, it is time to hit the church and Mosque because if you have done what is humanly possible then the rest is divine.

Every team is beateable…look at the way Liverpool demolished mn city and Roma yet humbled by real Madrid who have endured a turbulent season. Barcelona was seen as a failure before the start of last season yet they almost went through the league unbeaten… Yet still loosing an incredible cl quarter final…. As for me…these noted issues  will help our team play with more zeal and great caution….who says the eagles can’t fly again? …are you GOD….
