–Laments Eagles poor show so far, Hails Super Falcons performance
The Sports Minister and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tammy Danagogo has lamented the poor showing of the Super Eagles in the African Nations Cup qualifier which has placed them at the bottom of their group.
This is on the heels of the superlative performance of the national female team, the Super Falcons whom he congratulated for beating their Cote’dIvoire counterparts 4 – 2 on Saturday at the on-going African Women’s Championship in Namibia.
Dr. Danagogo described as unacceptable the 0 -1 lack – luster performance of the Eagles against Sudan who overtook them to the third position on the table with three points to the one point Eagles have gained since the commencement of the qualifiers.
He has therefore charged the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF), the Coaching crew as well as the players to ensure that this kind of performance is not repeated in the remaining matches of the qualifiers beginning from the Wednesday’s clash against Sudan at the Abuja National Stadium.
“The Coaching crew and the NFF must re-strategize to ensure that the team improves on their performance and pick up a ticket for the Nations Cup next year”, the Minister said.
Dr. Danagogo commended the Super Falcons for starting their African Women’s Championship on a winning, note, stressing that they should continue to improve with every game until they recapture the trophy which they lost Equatorial Guinea two years ago.
