Brazil’s goalscorer against Chile praised the opposition and the nature of the contest.
Luiz gave Brazil the lead in a 1-1 draw, which the hosts won 3-2 on penalties.
Speaking to the press, Luiz said: “We [Brazil] are evolving, growing. Congratulations to Chile, [they are a] great team [and have a] wonderful coach.
“We made a mistake when they equalised [as Hulk gave away possession]. Their team presses, fights, believes. It was a wonderful game. It is very good when we win on penalties, it is the most emotional moment in football.”
The Brazil defender believes that a back injury won’t stop him from taking part in his side’s World Cup quarter final.
Luiz was fit enough to to play the whole match as Brazil beat Chile on penalties, and the PSG player paid tribute to the national team’s medical staff after the game.
He said: “I hope to be 120%. Thank God I am in the hands of capable people with great quality that can help me.”
