Ikorodu United Technical Adviser, Theo de Jong, has backed the relegation-bound club to make a quick return to the Nigeria Professional Football League after a dismal campaign in the top flight, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Oga Boys will make a return to the second tier, the National League next term after failing to make the grade in their debut season in the NPFL.
Ikorodu United have won a lot of admirers following impressive victories in recent fixtures against former champions, Heartland, Kano. Pillars and Enyimba.
And the Dutchman who was a member of the Netherlands side that played at the 1974 World Cup, insists his club have proved they are good enough to compete in the NPFL and is tipping them to make quick return.
"Yeah, the team have improved a lot since I came in, but unfortunately, it was quite too late for us as we cannot escape relegation,"the 69- year-old disclosed to Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I believe we will be stronger next season and do well in the National League. The players have adapted so well to my coaching philosophy which is very crucial.
''If they continue this way, I believe we will be back in the NPFL very soon."
