Dike: Why I Rejected W/Cup Bonuses

–Falconets star says it was against NCAA rules

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National team star, Courtney Dike, has explained why she rejected bonus payments at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals in Canada.

The Oklahoma State University student wrote in a mail: “I would like to respond to what I have been reading on the internet about rejecting bonuses.

“I am delighted to play for Nigeria whenever called upon. I knew before leaving for the U-20 World Cup that I would not accept any bonuses. Acceptance of prize money is against NCAA regulations (the division 1 collegiate governing body) here in the US, so that is the main reason for rejecting it.

“Knowing this beforehand, I still chose to represent the country because I believed the experience would be more valuable than the money and I was right.”

Like I said earlier, the girl should be left alone and let posterity take care of the matter. As it is now, her rejection of the bonus has nothing to do with any personal conviction but on some foreign laws. Those calling for National honors for Dike should now reconsider their positions.

EVEN AT THAT SHE STILL DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZE AND RESPECTED BECAUSE I KNOW AND BELIEVE 90 PERCENT OF NIGERIAN WOULD HAVE STILL RECEIVED THE MONEY. AS THERE IS NO LAW BINDING HER NO TO COLLECT IT. SHE STILL SHOW SIGN OF HONESTY, DIGNITY AND SINCERITY WHICH SHOULD BE EMULATED BY ALL NIGERIANS MOSTLY OUR CORRUPT LEADER.

    GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
