Dolphins have questioned the records of the League Management Company (LMC) as it concerns the date of birth of star striker Emem Eduok, insisting the player is well within the age to feature for Nigeria U23s.
Emem Eduok, who scored a record-equaling 20 goals this past season, was sent packing from the Nigeria Olympic team training camp following the discrepancies on his club license and his international passport.
The LMC records for club license show that the Akwa Ibom State-born striker was born in 1991, while his international passport shows that he was born on January 31, 1994.
“It baffles us that this is happening,” declared media officer of Dolphins China Acheru as reported by Africanfootball.com.
“I spoke with the player and he was very sad. How could a player who played at the U20 World Cup last year be suddenly over 23 years? It’s sad that this is happening.
“Emem is a player of Dolphins and he has only one international passport which he used to feature at last year’s U20 World Cup. So, we don’t know where the LMC got their records from.”
Players born after January 1, 1993, are eligible for the U23 team.
