–Bayelsa United players go on strike
Players of Rivers State football clubs, Dolphins FC, Sharks FC and Rivers Angels on Tuesday morning held a protest march to press for the payment of their emolument such as sign on fees, salaries and match bonuses.
The players who are dressed in their respective club colours marched to the State government house to lodge their complaint to Governor Rotimi Amechi.
Details of their protest is not available as at press time.
Similarly, Bayelsa United players, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered, have gone on strike to also protest the non-payment of their salaries and match bonuses.
Another Bayelsa State-owed club, Ocean Boys, pulled out of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in 2012 over issues of welfare packages and backlog of monies owed as the players went several months without receiving their wages which had culminated in them staying away from trainings and matches.
