Drama As Maigari Returns To NFF

Drama As Maigari Returns To NFF

–Umeh insists he’s acting president
By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

The crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) took a new dimension yesterday with two presidents sitting in the office of the President at the Glass House secretariat of the federation at the same time, each with full load of their security personnel.

First to enter the office as early as 7am was the former acting president of the NFF, Chief Mike Umeh who was accompanied to the Glass House by Rumson Baribote, Obinna Ogba and Shehu Adamu. They went into the president’s office and according to sources, Umeh called for files but staff were hesitant.

At about 11.39am, Aminu Maigari stormed the office with a retinue of aides and two Hillux pick up vans and a peugeot car and went up into his office and took his seat as president while Umeh remained seated at the conference table of the office while some executive committee members also sat and watched the power show.

Earlier, Chief Umeh had told journalists who thronged the Glass House that there was no way Alhaji Maigari would return to NFF as president stating “Maigari cannot return as president because he had been impeached and cannot just come back like that. As far as I am concerned Maigari as president is in the past and (Sports) Minister cannot determine whether to vacate the impeachment or not.”

When Maigari came, he said he had come to resume as directed by FIFA and as agreed with the Minister of Sports and Chairman of National Sports Commission, Tammy Danagogo.

“I have come to resume work after we reached a peace agreement and I hope all will go well. We have to move on with our program,”he said.

Ironically, as soon as Maigari stepped into his office, he started treating files and it looked as if peace had returned. But Shehu Adamu the former acting vice chairman of the NFF told the media outside that Maigari would not survive the charges against him.

Maigari met Umeh and his allies who later left the office for both helsmen to sort things out between each other and after several hours of discussion, they arrived at a conclussion to hold an executive committee meeting Tuesday and Umeh was asked to brief the media.

Chief Umeh though refused to withdraw his earlier claim that Maigari was done as NFF president, he stated that the Tuesday meeting will determine whether peace had returned to the NFF. He would not however say who would preside over the meeting.

At precisely 4.10pm Maigari left the Glass House with a police orderly with the security operatives made up of DSS, Police and others with vehicle numbers; NPF 666 0C, RSH 591 AS and BD 78 AW on the tow. It was a clear evidence that Maigari was back but for how long?

When Umeh left at exactly 5pm he gave the impresion that the battle was far from over as he refused to talk and his countenance was that of a battle weary general. Can Maigari survive the onslaught or will Umeh succumb?

YOU GUYS SHOULD JUST STOP THIS NONSENSE NOW. WHY IS IT THAT WE NIGERIANS ARE ALWAYS FIGHTING FOR POST AND WE PRETEND WE CAME TO SERVE OUR NATION. IS THIS HOW TO SERVE?. IF FOR THE PEACE OF OUR FOOTBALL AND REALLY UMEH AND HIS GROUP OR WHATEVER HE CALLS HIMSELF REALLY CAME TO SERVE OUR NATION, THEN WHY CAN`T HE JUST ACCEPT MAIGARI AS FIFA HAS SAID AND THE MINISTER HAS ORDERED SO THAT WE CAN MOVE FORWARD.
BUT THIS PEOPLE ARE ALL BUNCH OF THIEVES AND DISGRACE TO THIS NATION. OLE, YOU ARE NOT BETTER THAN MAIGARI SO LEAVE THE POST SO THAT WE CAN GO FORWARD WITH OUR FOOTBALL AND STOP THINKING OF PERSONAL INTEREST. IF REALLY WE DONT WANT HIM AGAIN THEN VOTE HIM OUT WHEN HIS TENURE LAPSES. PERIOD. THE MAN HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN MAKING NOISE LIKE THE OTHER HAVE BEEN DOING SINCE AND THAT SHOWS CHARACTER AND RESPONSIBILITY TO ME.

Here is my humble advice to Chief Umeh:
Every good leader must endeavor to be a good follower…and Chief please understand that : A man of authority must himself be willing to be subject to authority.
So please accept the ruling of FIFA on this matter and accept the authority of the Sports Minister.
Two wrongs cannot make a right Sir…The Super eagles are facing an important match next month. We must never be over confident of our abilities. We need to settle these power tussles and face the national assignments ahead of us.
So I advice you to accept the rulings of the higher authorities and allow Mr Maigari to be there.Your own turn will come soon….May be something better is on its way for you.
Please show humility, integrity, self respect and dignity for the sake of the Nigeria Football, the fans, your subordinates your admirers ( at home and abroad) and human good will and end this feud.
A word is enough for the wise, and I reckon you are a wise man.
    Thank you.

  • Wonder shall never ends in Nigeria lol. So, these people doesn’t care if we qualify for Afcon 2015 or not. What about the Eagle’s coach? Are they going for Olishe, Siasia or Keshi? We have no time to waste ooo Oga NFF, act fast. God bless Nigeria!
