Barcelona Lassa star Shane Lawal missed D’Tigers’ defeat to Lithuania at the on-going 2016 Rio Olympics due to a complete rupture of his patellar tendon, the player has revealed.
Lawal who copped the injury during Nigeria’s opening men’s basketball defeat to Argentina has since undergone surgery, he revealed via his Instagram page.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers lost their opening preliminary round group game to Argentina 94-66 and suffered their second loss to Lithuania
“I want to thank everybody that has contacted me in the last fews days, frome the bottom of my heart I say thank you,” Lawal wrote.
“I suffered a complete rupture of my patellar tendon in the first quarter of the match against Argentina. Surgery the next day.”
“This is another test of faith I will bounce back. 2016 has been a rough year but I will bounce back.”
The 29-year-old also also wished his teammates goodluck in Thurday’s win or bust clash against Spain.
“Wishing my brothers all the best in the Olympics. Make Nigeria, make Africa proud. I will be back better than ever.”
