The coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, Sam Vincent says the squad has enough talents and experience, and stand a chance of winning the 2017 FIBA Women Afrobasket tournament which starts on Friday 18th of August, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
D’Tigress had their first training session at the match venue Thursday afternoon after landing in Mali on Wednesday aboard Air Cote d’Ivoire after a stopover in Abidjan.
Vincent who oversaw his side’s first training session in Bamako,
expressed satisfaction with his team and their readiness to take on Mozambique on Friday.
“I like the way the team is working right now,” Vincent told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We feel good about the roster. The players are experienced and we have got post players, shooters and we are solid on defence.”
Nigeria will open their Group B campaign on Friday against Mozambique before taking on reigning champions Senegal, Egypt, DR Congo and Guinea.
Meanwhile, the D’Tigress were billed to take their official photoshoot at 6:30pm on Thursday.
