Nigeria’s D’Tigress have recorded their third victory in the ongoing 2017 FIBA Africa Women’s Championship holding in Bamako, Mali defeating Egypt 106-72 points on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 2003 and 2005 champions who on Saturday defeated the Republic of Congo 84-47 points began the game with 20-15 points in the first quarter, while the Nigerians were clearly unstoppable in the second half, scoring 30 points against the 14 points the Egyptians recorded in the period to end the first half with 50-29 points in favour of D’Tigress.
The third quarter was more competitive as the Egyptians stepped up their game but the efforts were not good enough to stop the Nigerians who led the stanza with 29-20 points while the last quarter saw D’Tigress recording 27-23 points to complete their domination of the game with 106-72 points.
With the win, D’Tigress have qualified for the AfroBasket for Women quarter-finals as they Chase a ticket to the FIBA Women’s World Cup.
D’Tigress’ Evelyn Akhotor contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds while Adaora Elonu added eight assists in the victory.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will face Guinea in their next game of the FIBA AfroBasket for Women preliminary round on Tuesday.
