The Super Eagles will leave for Sfax, Tunisia on Monday morning aboard a charter flight for Tuesday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday four encounter against Libya, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The game will take place at the 18,000 capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri, the home ground of Tunisia Premier League side, CS Sfaxien.

The stadium was built in 1938 and was used for the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles are also expected to depart Sfax immediately after the match and arrive in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday, 17th October.

Gernot Rohr’s men defeated the Mediterranean Knights 4-0 on Saturday at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium Uyo, with Odion Ighalo bagging a hat-trick and Samuel Kalu scoring the other goal.

The three-time AFCON winners have won their last qualifying fixtures since suffering a 2-0 home loss to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on matchday one in Uyo.

Nigeria are currently in second position in the Group E table with six points following the win against Libya, one point less than South Africa’s who beat Seychelles 6-0 in Johannesburg.

  • _ Important “Needs To” PT1 _

No doubt, the 4:1 home mauling of Libya over the weekend has got us fans believing again, I don’t want to get too carried away by that though.

A lot of work still needs to be done to get Super Eagles from where we are to a team that is seen to be able to reach the quarter-finals of any major competition and one reasonably able to rub shoulders with the likes of France, Belgium and Brazil and push these teams all the way.

To this end, I advocate 5 “needs to”. I will advance 2 points here:

1.Ighalo: The number 9 now needs to sustain this form over a long period. It’s not just about scoring goals but putting himself about, creating chances for others and being a massive presence up front.

With Ighalo as number 9, Fans need to be safe in the knowledge that “something will happen” whether he scores or not.

2.Rohr: It is time that Rohr gives us a recognisable team philosophy, orientation and a recognisable style of play. It is all well winning games but we want more.

    We want an identity.

We want an entertaining style of play that we can relate to and associate this generation of Eagles with.

In 1994, we were named as a major entertaining side. Manu’s Garba’s Eaglets have a recognisably entertaining style.

Mr Rohr, please, MAKE SUPER EAGLES GREAT AGAIN.

    To be continued….

    • 4:0 home mauling of Libya…

    • Needs to:

      1. Competition for places, two or three players for every position. No doubt the call up of Isaac Success shot a rocket up Ighalo and he had to perform or his place was at risk. Given that, and looking at the third goal, he needed three touches to score. That is two touches too many and any decent defence would’ve snuffed out the threat

      2. Call up on merit and not on name, pick players in form and based on club performance AND in the right positions.

      3. Continuous improvement. Keep looking for players that will improve the squad. No doubt we have moved on from Simy, Joel and Bryan. We still need to scout back up to Collins at left back, Iwobi at attacking midfield and Success as central striker. As it is an injury to either one of them, or suspension, loss of form means that we do not have a plan b.

      4. Expand the pool from 24 to 36 squad members for the reason above. Three players for every position and in form replacements in every dept

        5. Do not underate the Libyans. They will come out firing from all cylinders, but hopefully their defence will be vulnerable once again.

The scoreline was 4-0 not 4-1

Well said guys. For that left full back position, Jamilu Collins and Udoh are the men. The manager should try something different this time around.

Both of these players are young and ready to go. I will compared these two left footers to Babayaro and Udese.
Help us deliver our messages to coach Rohr “CSN” please and Thank you.

Apart from winning over the weekend, the team still have a lot to do. They are not there yet. I’m glad the coach Rohr was aware of that.

Oga Rohr should leave the door open for other players. Competitions must continue in the team. The competitions brings the best out Ighalo because of Success, that is what needed in the team.

However, I wish our dear Super Eagles a journey mercies. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!
