Super Eagles striker, Gbolahan Salami believes strongly that his goal against Chad in Saturday’s 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Kaduna will go a long way in opening doors of opportunity for him, Complete Sports can report.
The Warri Wolves striker scored the first goal in the Super Eagles 2-0 win over Chad in the encounter, after ending the first half goalless.
“I feel great and happy to score against Chad and that showed that we have started well this time around”, begins the former Shooting Stars player.
“I am sure that the goal will open doors of opportunity for me because it will inspire me to do more. I must also commend other players for their efforts in the match, because it was not easy but with hard work from every player, we were able to win the match and I am sure that other matches in the qualifiers will be better than what we have seen against Chad,” he added.
While praising the visitors for their efforts in the match, Salami also believes that the Super Eagles will not miss out from the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon, as he called on Nigerians to continue giving the team their support.
“Like I said, this is our first match in the qualifiers, we are going to do our best to make sure that we qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations, it was painful that we did not qualify for the 2015 edition but I want Nigerians to forget that and give us their support and also be hopeful because we will not let them down" Salami concludes.
