Ebuehi Injured, Doubtful For Super Eagles Friendlies Vs Poland, Serbia

Ebuehi Injured, Doubtful For Super Eagles Friendlies Vs Poland, Serbia

By David Meshioye: Super Eagles and Ado Den Haag right-back Tyronne Ebuehi now faces a race against time to be fit for the March 23 international friendly between Nigeria and Poland in Wroclaw after he sustained a groin injury in Saturday’s 2-0 Dutch top flight defeat to NAC Breda, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Omroepwest.nl reported on Sunday that coach Alfons Groenendijk’s woes were further compounded after Ebuehi struggled with groin complaints and could not finish the match.

The defender is expected to undergo a scan on Monday to ascertain the level of his injury. Recovery time for groin injuries depends on the severity of the injury. A mild groin strain may recover within a few weeks, whereas a severe injury may take six weeks or longer to recover.

With the 22-year-old defender already part of coach Gernot Rohr’s 28-man squad for Super Eagles’ international friendly matches against Poland and Serbia, it remains to be seen if Ebuehi will be fit for the two clashes.

Ebuehi was a delight to watch in Nigeria’s 4-2 win over Argentina in November and has been tipped as one of Nigeria’s best discoveries under Rorh. He came on as a second half substitute for Shehu Abdullahi at right-back in the friendly in Krasnodar, Russia.

If this boy missed the WC for any reason, we may lose him to Holland. That will be a disaster bcos he came in at the right time. Echiejileb is aging and even at the WC, Elderson needs a very strong competition. Let’s pray for his quick recovery because I rate him higher than all our full backs combined.

This guy is not injured his substitution in their last match by his coach was a tactical change due to a red card gotten by his teammate n also a defender injured so he was removed tactically

So why after begging him for so long, Nigeria did not cap-tie Tyronne to Nigeria by fielding him for a few minutes in the World Cup games against Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria where he watched from the reserve bench? Instead, Nigeria even fielded Shehu who had an excess of yellow cards that could have cost us the WC qualification in the same right back position that Ebuehi could have played in. I begin to sniff suspicion that the Dutch FA has not given up on Tyronne Ebuehi and could be throwing a spanner in the works, perhaps with the collusion of the NFF. Which is to say that money may be changing hands!

  • Genot Rohr don’t trust him that’s why he never caped him in competitive match.. he just did try and error and discovered the boy was good at dime minute
