Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile is disappointed that his French side AS Monaco could hold not on for a win in Sunday's pulsating 3-3 draw away to Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.
Echiejile who was making his 70th appearance for the club in all competitions since took to Twitter to express his disgust at seeing his side drop to seventh with 24 points in the Ligue 1 log.
"Couldn't hold on to the lead, it was our wish. Thanks again for the never-ending support," Echiejile wrote via his handle on Monday.
Marseille opened scoring through Romain Alessandrini in the 12th minute but an Almamy Toure brace gave Monaco a 2-1 lead at half time.
Michy Batshuayi scored the leveller six minutes after the restart before Georges-Kevin Nkoudou struck a late equaliser for Marseille after Fabio Coentrao had put Monaco 3-2 ahead.
The 27-year-old Echiejile has made eight appearances so far in Ligue 1 this season.
