—Nigeria star set to start friendly against QPR
By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles and Monaco defender Elderson Echiejile is delighted at the arrival of Italian forward Stephan El Shaarawy at the club on a one-year loan from AC Milan.
“El Shaarawy arrival is good for the team. He is a good addition,” the Nigerian international told completesportsnigeria.com.
Echiejile who is optimistic ahead of the coming season believes he can surpass the feat achieved last term.
Elderson played 21 games in all competitions last season for Monaco and scored once.
“Pre-season is going on well but with more hard work I’m certain I’ll achieve more this season, ” he added.
Echiejile, who has featured in all three friendlies so far this pre-season, will start Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against Championship side Queens Park Rangers, completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Also expected in action in another Tuesday pre-season game is Oostende’s Nigerian new signing Joseph Akpala.
Akpala who opened his goal account for his Jupilier side in last week’s 4-2 win against Roeselare will be hoping to add to his goal tally against Zulte-Waregem.
Akpala joined KV Oostende from Turkish side Karabukspor.
