The Dolphins striker was the match winner in Nigeria’s 1-0 win in a friendly against GhanaFriday night to open the Akwa Ibom Stadium.

A 35th minute header from the Akwa Ibom State-born striker put Eduok in the history books as the first player to score in the 30,000-capacity arena nicknamed ‘The nest of champions.’

“I am so happy to score here in the presence of my family, fans and to make them happy,” said an elated Eduok.

“You know today I had a good game. I feel so happy scoring in front of Mr President, Goodluck Jonathan and my Governor Godswill Akpabio. I feel privileged to have made history today, so I thank Almighty God.

“You know this is my first international goal and it means a lot to me, so I feel very happy.”
The energetic Eduok has scored 20 goals this season to equal an all-time record set by Jude Aneke three seasons ago.

The lively former Nigeria U20 star, came close to doubling his tally in the 56th minute, but his half volley from outside the box missed the target with Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori well beaten.eAnd his 78th minute strike was too weak to trouble the Ghana shot stopper.

A minute later, Eduok’s cross from the left was smashed against the crossbar by substitute Mfon Udoh.
