Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose says he and his Celtic team-mates are targeting a treble title win this season after they booked their passage into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup in midweek and the lead extended to five points in the title race with their latest win. Celtic won a League Cup ten days ago.
The defender believes the Celtic squad is peaking at just the right time as they look to win two more pieces of silverware before the term is out and write their names into club folklore.
Ambrose is riding the crest of a wave with his team-mates and says it will take a huge performance for any opponent to deny them their glorious finale. He said: “Right now it would take a lot of effort from another team to stop us.
“We are playing at top level. It’s going to be difficult for them to withstand what we have right now. We have a bigger squad and everyone is at their best now and in their finest form. It’s difficult for the manager to pick his starting line-up. There’s a lot of competition in the squad and that makes us better. It’s an enjoyable place to be at the moment because everything is working well for us. We’ve had two weeks of Dundee United and it’s been great to play alongside them.
“We give them a lot of respect because they are a good team but, in the end, we know we have the edge over them and it’s been a great week. We know that but we don’t want to look at what we’ve done. We want to look forward and that means the next game. That’s more important than what we’ve done. Every game in the league matters and we want to keep going,” he said.
From now until the end of the season, we want to keep doing our best so we can defend our title and get to the final of the Scottish Cup.
“Then we can see if the Treble is still possible. That is our main aim.”
