Eguavoen Tasks NFF On Football Development

By Boluwaji Bamidele:

Former Super Eagles handler Austin Eguavoen believes that with proper planning and quality programme for the senior national team, Nigeria will bounce back despite not able to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations billed to kick off this month in Equatorial Guinea. Speaking on the country’s football in the out gone year, the ex-international says the FA needs support from every Nigerian so that they can concentrate fully on how to move the game forward.

“Well, the Nations Cup is fast approaching and by now, we should have started preparing for the tournament but with the way things are now, we need to plan properly for the future and see how we can prepare for the future as well,” he said.

Eguavoen who was in charge of Gombe United in the concluded Glo Premier League season has also praised the FA for the idea of securing international friendly matches for the home based players, saying doing that will help the players to grow.

“I just hope the FA will continue with an idea like this because it makes the players to at least remain in the game mostly when the league is on break. For me, I can see bright future for Nigerian football but we need to really work hard and plan well.
