Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has joined South African Premier Soccer League club SuperSport United, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 28-year-old defender signed a three-year deal with Eric Tinkler’s side from Finnish side Kuopion Palloseura.
“He (Egwuekwe) has arrived and he will be joining us. We will release that in a statement soon,”Tinkler was quoted on Soccer Laduma.
The Nigerian international is expected to make his debut once he has been granted a work permit in the coming days.
Egwuekwe, who was in the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in 2013, becomes the fourth Nigerian international after James Okwuosa, Daniel Akpeyi, Emmanuel Daniel playing in the Absa Premiership.
