Ejide: S/Africa Will Pay For Congo Defeat

–Eagles goalie reassures on 2015 Morocco AFCON ticket

Super Eagles goalie and stand-in captain, Austin Ejide has posited that Bafana Bafana of South Africa will pay the price of Nigeria’s shock 3-2 defeat by Red Devils of Congo in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier when they travel to Cape Town on Wednesday.

The Eagles suffered their first home defeat in three year when the Red Devils posted a shocking 3-2 defeat to Nigeria at U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar at the weekend but the Be’er Sheva of Israel goal minder reckons it’s a wakeup call for the team to fire from all cylinders in Cape Town.

“It’s sad we lost to Congo at home, it’s much more painful disappointing our supporting home fans but I must say it’s a wakeup call for us to work harder to win our subsequent games starting with the match against South Africa”, Ejide said in a most pensive tone.

“We say sorry to all Nigerians over the painful loss and at the same time say the defeat is a wakeup call for us to work hard and win in South Africa.”

“Personally, I felt so sad because in my entire career, I’ve never conceded three goals in a single match at the national team level.”

Before departing Lagos Sunday night for South Africa ahead tomorrow’s game with Bafana Bafana, Ejide stressed that Morocco 2015 is a must for Nigeria saying that victory against the Bafana Bafana will put Nigeria’s chances back on track.

“We’ve put the Congo game behind, we’ve also taken the positives from it so we have resolved to put our 2015 AFCON dream back on track with a win in South Africa.

“It won’t come easy because South Africa won their first game 3-0 against Sudan and would want to consolidate against us.
