Former Super Eagles forward Efan Ekoku has praised the Super Eagles for their impressive showing against Iceland in Friday’s Group D at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa bagged a brace as the Super Eagles beat Iceland 2-0 at the Volgograd Arena.
It was their first win of the competition following the 2-0 reverse against Croatia in their first game.
The win put the West Africans in second position in the group behind Croatia who have six points.
“Well done Super Eagles…joined the party 🍾 A super performance in the second half. Iceland unable to break a solid defensive performance, Omeruo, Troost-Ekong and Balogun were outstanding. Magnificent Musa 😁
Musa’s second double at WC level. Last time he was denied Man of the match against Argentina…not this time surely,” Ekoku, who was a member of Super Eagles team at the 1994 World Cup, tweeted.
Gernot Rohr’s men will face Argentina in their last group game at the Krestovsky Stadium, St Petersburg next week Tuesday.
