Super Eagles goals talisman, Emmanuel Emenike would be looking to return to the starting lineup for Fenerbahce when they go on the road trip against Istanbul Basaksehir on Monday.
The race for the Turkish Super Lig title is set to go down the wire this season with Fenerbahce, currently sitting 2nd on the league table with 70 points looking to beat leaders Galatasaray with 73 points to the trophy. And with just two round of matches to go before the close of the season, Turkish football fans are excitingly looking forward to a photo-finish.
Basaksehir are not pushover either as they currently sit 4th on the log with 57 points and would be looking to hold on to that position to secure their UEFA Europa League slot but Fenerbahce must be ready to dig deep to overcome their hosts if they want to remain in the title race till the last day.
Emenike, who was the club’s leading goleador last season after he arrived from Russian side Spartak Moscow two seasons ago has struggled for form this term. The 28-year old forward who scored 12 league goals last season has only managed 4 goals this term and has fallen out of favour with the club fans prompting speculations that he is set to quit the club at the end of the season. The power-playing striker has also been left out of the club’s games in recent times largely due to the better forms of strikers Moamar Sow, Dirk Kuyt and Paul Webo whom have scored 14, 8 and 7 goals respectively.
