Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike returned to action for the first time in 2017 in the Turkish Super Lig for Fenerbahce who defeated Nosa Igiebor’s Rizespor 2-1 on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Emenike last featured for the Yellow Canaries in a 2-0 win over Galatasary on 20 November, 2016.
The 29-year-old Nigerian has failed to score in his last 13 games in all competitions for Fenerbahce.
His compatriot Igiebor played for 61 minutes before he was replaced by Recep Niyaz in what was Igiebor’s 10th start for Rizespor since joining in the January window.
Nigeria defender Godfrey Oboabona returned to the substitutes bench after missing Rizespor’s last three games.
Former Karabukspor and West Ham forward Emenike replaced Aatif Chahechouhe in the 61st minute as a goal in each half from Moussa Sow sealed the win for Dick Advocat’s side at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
Oguzhan Aynaoglu had earlier restored parity for Rizespor in the 14th minute after Sow had shot Fenerbache into the lead in the third minute.
Emenike has scored three league goals in 11 appearances (four goals in 20 games in all competitions) so far this term.
Fenerbache are third in the Turkish Super Lig with 56 points from 29 games.
