Emenike Vows To Keep On Scoring

–Thanks fans after ending goal drought

Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike is confident of banging in more goals after finally ending his goal drought Sunday evening in the Istanbul derby against Besiktas.

The Super Eagles forward opened scoring on three minutes following an assist from Alper Potuk.He was yellow carded in the 65th minute before fellow Ivorian, Moussa Sow completed the scoring on 86 minutes for the away win.

“It was a great night for my team, I congratulate all my friends.We left with three points from a battle that we were extremely fit. I would like to thank everyone who supported me.Indeed, I played a very good game I think,” the Nigerian was quoted as saying by Turkish daily paper, Fanatik.

Emenike would also tell African football website he did not lose his self-belief despite going many weeks without a goal.

“I never lost my confidence (when he was not scoring). I put the goals in my head whenever I am on the pitch, but it seems everything is working well right now,” revealed the 27-year-old striker.

“As a striker, my main job and objective is to score goals but sometimes it is difficult and that does not mean the goal is dry. But I am happy to put smiles on the faces of everybody. I believe the goal will lift me.

“Of course, I will keep working hard, I am going to score more goals with luck on my side and I believe this victory will go a long way for me and my club.”

Last season, Emenike scored 14 goals. Champions Fenerbache are top of the Turkish Super League on 16 points from eight matches.They host Rizespor on Saturday in continuation of the league.
