–Says: No Excuses For Sudan Loss
Super Eagles captain and first choice goalie,Vincent Enyeama says the poor state of the Khatoun stadium pitch is not a strong enough excuse for the team’s humiliating loss to Sudan in Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game.
The Super Eagles duo of midfielder,Mikel Obi and star striker,Emmanuel Emenike had blamed the team’s defeat on the pitch but Enyeama countered insisting there are no excuses why they shouldn’t have beaten Sudan in Khartoum.
The reigning African Champions fell 1-0 to the Falcons of Sudan and the result means the West Africans are bottom of Group A with one point from three games.
“All those things are excuses, but we don’t have any excuses for the loss, we have no excuses for that loss. I feel sad, and I feel bad about, but it’s football and we have to move on,” he told Hot FM.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper, however, remained optimistic about Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the Morocco 2015 AFCON.
“I believe that we will qualify, I believe God to help us pull through and I believe God to help us qualify. There’s really nothing much to say, no excuses to give but I believe that we will qualify,” he added.
