Super Eagles and Lille of France safest hands, Vincent Enyeama will have to put the disappointment of not winning the coveted 2014 GLO/CAF Africa Footballer of the Year Award aside when his side play host to Caen today in a Ligue 1 tie.
Cote d’Ivoire and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure emerged the winner at a colourful ceremony held in Lagos Thursday night while Enyeama had to settled for the runners-up position and of course the goalkeeper’s slot in the Africa XI team.
Enyeama’s well-documented heroics for Lille which included several clean slate performances for the French clubsides brought him close to winning the award but the Yaya’s Toure’s superb display for the English champions overshadowed the Nigerian goalkeeper’s displays.
Lille are currently 11th on the league table with 24 points and should have no trouble picking the maxium points against a hapless Caen side who curently sit at the bottom of the Ligue 1 ladder with a paltry 15 points after 19 round of matches.
Enyeama has been the undisputted number one choice for Lille since returning to the French clubside two seasons ago while he has also been the number one goalkeeper for Nigeria for over a decade.
