Enyeama To Ikeme: Be Strong, Get Well, Naija People Love You

Former Nigeria international Vincent Enyeama has assured Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme that he is stilled loved by Nigerians.

Enyeama made this known in a reply to a post Ikeme made on Twitter on Friday expressing his regrets that he will not be representing Nigeria at this year’s FIFA World Cup.

Ikeme kept in three games for Nigeria (both legs against Swaziland in the play-offs and Zambia in Ndola) during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers before he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia after returning abnormal blood tests during a routine pre-season check-up on 6 July 2017.

“To say I’m devastated about missing the World Cup is a understatement. But I just want to thank everyone in Nigerian for there prayers, love and messages. I can’t explain how much they mean to me.️ I also want to wish my teammates, coaches and NFF luck for the summer coming,” Ikeme wrote on his handle.

Replying to Ikeme, Enyeama tweeted on Saturday: “Be strong. Get well bro. We love you. Naija people love you. God be with you.”

Ikeme replaced Enyeama as Super Eagles number one under former coach and ex-international Sunday Oliseh in 2015 when he kept goal away to Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations which ended 0-0.
