Supporters of newly crowned Glo Premier League champions, Enyimba, plan to storm Lagos in their thousands for Sunday's week 38 clash against Sunshine Stars, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Enyimba secured a record seventh title on Sunday after they were held to a goalless draw at the Enyimba Sports Stadium by Warri Wolves.
The home fans were however denied the chance of seeing their side lift the trophy by the organisers who declared before last weekend's matches that the trophy presentation will be done on the final day.
The Peoples Elephant will take on Sunshine Stars in Lagos on Sunday, where they have a large number of supporters.
But their fans back home in Aba are not ready to miss out on the party.
"We are coming to Lagos to witness the trophy presentation," Ifeanyi, a trader in the Ogbo Hill area of Aba, told Completesportsnieria.com.
"I don't understand why they did not do the presentation after the game. It would have been a perfect end to the game.
"I have discussed with my friends and we are going to storm Lagos in large numbers.
"It's an historic occasion for us, so we must see the team lift the trophy."
Samuel Njoku, a businessman who resides in Ehi Road, Aba, corroborated Ifeanyi's view.
"I don't have a problem with the League Management Company's decision on the date of the trophy presentation.
"I was in Lagos for the Federation Cup final last year, so I don't have a problem travelling down again.
"Presenting the trophy to the team in Aba would have been the ideal thing, but we can't force them to change their mind.
"Lagos should prepare for us as we are coming with full force."
