Enyimba left-back Ikouwem Udoh has been handed a late invitation to the home-based Super Eagles camp by head coach of the team Salisu Yusuf ahead of the African Nations Championship in January, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 20-year-old impressed during the recently concluded Nigeria Professional Football League invitational tournament in Kano.
The defender featured in two of the Peoples Elephant’s four games in the competition.
The invitation marks a remarkable rise for the youngster who only made his debut for Enyimba in March this year after he was promoted from the feeder team at the start of last season.
He made 10 appearances for Enyimba last season.
His invitation increased the number of Enyimba players in the team’s camp to five with Theophilus Afelokhai, Nasiru Sani, Austin Oladapo and Ibrahim Mustapha already part of the squad.
Salisu on Wednesday also extended an invitation to Nasarawa United goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso to fight for a place in the team.
